From May 2 to 4, in Praza da Vila, the eighth edition of the Tourism Fair of the Atlantic Eixo will be held, with the participation of almost thirty municipalities and entities of Galicia and Northern Portugal.

The fair will feature guided tours, wine tastings, concerts, exhibitions and workshops during the first weekend of May. Expocidades will be inaugurated on Friday, May 2 with a performance by the Sarria Music Band. On this first day, an exhibition dedicated to the advertising posters of Matías López, marketing pioneer and famous Sarrian chocolate maker, will also be presented on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth.

As usual, Expocidades will offer several activities that the participating municipalities and entities will bring to Sarria, such as food and wine tastings, workshops, live crafts, among others. Sarria has also prepared an extensive program to liven up the whole weekend from 2 to 4 May. Each day will be dedicated to a territorial space in which the Eixo is inserted: Friday to Galicia, Saturday to Europe and Sunday to Portugal.

In addition to the opening with the Sarria Music Band, three guided tours will be offered throughout the weekend. These visits will deal with the French Way, antiques and the figure of Matías López, and will be led by local experts such as Silvia Mondelo. On Saturday, May 3, visitors will be able to participate in an exclusive tasting of Galician and Portuguese wines, with winemakers from both regions, in an event for a small group of 100 people.

For children, there will be chocolate workshops, magic and the creation of instruments with natural elements, while adults can enjoy a traditional Galician dance workshop. Music will be another of the great protagonists of Expocidades, with concerts of different genres, including a tribute to ABBA, the local band Louband and the Sarriano group Clarisaxos, which will put the finishing touch to the fair. In addition, Sunday will be dedicated to Portugal, with a vermouth session of fados by Iria Estévez.

During the weekend of May 2-4, Sarria will also feature sporting activities, such as the Pretorian Race obstacle course, which will attract athletes from all over the region, and a classic car rally organized by the Clásic@s Sarria club.

Expocidades is an event organized by the Atlantic Eixo that promotes proximity tourism and cultural exchange between Galicia and northern Portugal. Throughout the event, visitors will be able to explore the cultural, historical and gastronomic richness of the municipalities of the Atlantic Eixo, uniting the two regions in a space of exchange and enjoyment.
