As early as the 14th century, fairs were documented next to the now-defunct hermitage of Santiago do Mercado, and later next to the Fortress. In 1487, the Catholic Monarchs granted Pobra de Sárria the benefit of an annual Feira Franca.
Their heirs are the current and popular monthly fairs on the 6th, 20th and 27th of each month throughout the year. FEIRA DO 6 (since 1890), FEIRA DO 20 (since 1820) and FEIRA DO 27 (1946). In addition to the market and the exhibition and sale of livestock, you can taste octopus at the fair and other delicacies at several traditional pulpeiras stalls set up in the pendellos and also at street stalls and food shops in the town.
