Afurada is a fishing village whose  patron saint is Saint Peter.

The fishermen, people of great devotion, pay due tribute to the Saint, where, in addition to the religious ceremonies, there is no lack of the traditional grilled sardines with the typical Broa de Avintes (type of bread) and  Fireworks.

This festivity reaches its  peak by the time the procession  leaves with the platforms carrying  life-size images of Saints followed by their congregation dressed in the traditional clothes of the fishing people. Afterwords the blessing of the platforms takes place in front of the Douro River.
