Vila Nova de Gaia, by virtue of its location, is a geographically privileged municipality, and the fact that it is in the Northern Region, it is extremely rich in popular traditions, folklore, traditional uses and customs, shaping what is today a strong identity evident in living handicrafts, traditional cuisine and popular songs that suggest a strong influence from other civilisations that have passed through this region.

The collaboration of the Gaian folklore has made an excellent contribution to the promotion of traditions and experiences, through their costumes, dances, songs, traditional games and musical instruments, typical of our region, and also to attracting new market segments and the interest of visitors.
