The Holy Week celebrations are the high point of religiousness in the city of Braga.

Considered the most famous Holy Week in the country and one of the most significant in the entire Christian world, Holy Week in Braga is synonymous with faith, devotion and respect, evoking Christian tradition in each procession, day or night, during Easter time.

Dyeing the city in purple tones, Holy Week is the time that attracts the most visitors to Braga, in search of the majestic processions, some of them marked by the silence of those who observe the heavy walk of the farricocos (traditional figure at this time). The Biblical Procession Vós Sereis o Meu Povo, commonly known as Procissão da Burrinha, the Procissão do Senhor Ecce Homo and the Procissão do Enterro do Senhor, which takes place on Good Friday and marks the end of the cycle of processions, are the highlights of these solemnities.
