Sub Terra Aquae, a Roman sewer space, is a visitable and accessible space located at the back of the Porta Miñá room, in the Carme neighbourhood, which preserves and disseminates a fragment of a Roman sewer from the ancient Lvcvs Avgvsti. It is the only Roman sewer that is preserved and can be visited in Galicia, whose remains were located in 1994.

The Lugo sewer system is located in one of the oldest spaces in the city, next to Porta Miña, and the road along which the inhabitants of Lucus Augusti descended to the river and the thermal baths. Here the XIX road of the Antonine Itinerary entered, which connected Lucus with Bracara Augusta (Braga) and Asturica Augusta (Astorga). Entering the city through Pórtaa Miña, Via XIX became the Decumanus Maximus, one of the main streets leading to the forum, in the upper part of the city, the central square where the political, social and religious life of the Roman city took place. concentrated.

The restoration and museization, promoted by the Mayor’s Office of the City Council of Lugo, is part of the European strategy DUSI Muramiñae: from the Wall to the Miño.
