Known under the acronym MIHL, this modern building has become an international benchmark of contemporary architecture, and in it, in the words of its architects, the Nieto and Sobejano studio, architecture and landscape merge in their proposal for a museum-park or park-museum.

It currently houses a permanent exhibition content that reviews the historical evolution of the city of Lugo through audiovisual resources, interactive models and information panels, along with a small selection of archaeological pieces, including the granite monolith that contains the founding inscription of the city, ordered to be erected by Paulus Fabius Maximus in honor of Emperor Augustus.

Other pieces of interest are also exhibited, such as a terracotta theatrical mask and a set of epigraphic and ceramic pieces.

The MIHL also has an extensive program of temporary exhibitions and cultural and educational activities.
