When nature calls us to forget the fatigue of the days, Montesinho Natural Park is the perfect destination, with one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal. Its rounded hills, the deep valleys of the Sabor, Maçãs, and Baceiro rivers, the marshes and oak forests, and a unique rocky chain, allow, from the top of a rock, to broaden the horizon and expand the landscape. The marked trails for walking are also an excellent way to get in touch with this biodiversity and capture unforgettable moments in photography. Montesinho Natural Park contains 80% of Portugal’s mammals and has a very rich fauna (240 species of vertebrates, of which 150 are birds, also otters, wolves, deer, and roe deer) and a very distinct flora throughout the four seasons of the year. It thus becomes an example of biodiversity and landscape conservation. There are a variety of diverse options, ranging from hiking and mountain biking trails to horseback riding or camping. During the month of September, it is almost mandatory to listen to the bellowing of the deer (the call of the males for mating) and their group movement.
