When nature calls us to forget the tiredness of the days, the Montesinho Natural Park is the perfect destination, with one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal.

Its rounded hills, the valleys of the Sabor, Maçãs and Baceiro rivers, the marshes and oak forests and a unique rocky chain, allow, from the top of a rock, to expand the horizon and widen the landscape.

The marked hiking trails are also an excellent way to come into contact with this biodiversity and record unforgettable moments in photographs.

The Montesinho Natural Park contains 80% of Portugal’s mammals and has a very rich fauna (240 vertebrate species, of which 150 are birds, as well as otters, wolves, deer and roe deer) and a very different flora throughout the four seasons of the year.

It thus becomes an example of biodiversity and landscape conservation.

There are a variety of diverse options, ranging from hiking and mountain biking trails to horseback riding and camping.

During the month of September it is almost obligatory to listen to the braying of the deer (mating call of the males) and their group movement.
