Built between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD during the Flavian urban renewal of the ancient Bracara Augusta, this monumental thermal complex is located on the upper platform of the Outeiro de Maximinos, in the highest area of the city of Braga, constituting the only public building identified so far within the excavated perimeter of this important Roman city. Although its original surroundings have not yet been fully excavated, the research conducted so far confirms that we are looking at a building that underwent some structural modifications from the moment its construction began in the 1st century AD until the moment it ceased to be used in the 5th century AD, at a time when the Western Roman Empire was collapsing.
