The Pastel Brigantino emerged from a challenge issued by the municipality to the city’s pastry chefs in 2018, with the aim of creating a cake that would represent the municipality. The sweet combines characteristic ingredients of the region, such as honey, chestnut, and olive oil. The cake has a low content of saturated fats, as the fat used is olive oil, and a high nutritional value thanks to being prepared with chestnut flour and honey from the Montesinho Natural Park.
