The Butelo and Casulas Festival takes place on the weekend before Carnival.

It’s dedicated to a typical smoked sausages from the municipality of Bragança – the butelo. Butelo is an example of the good use of pork: wrapped in bladder or belly, humble filling of spine and rib bones, with some meat attached. It is typical to eat this artisanal sausage accompanied by dried bean skins, locally known as casulas. During the Festival, it is possible to purchase this delicacy, as well as all smoked sausages from Trás-os-Montes and horticultural products, directly from the producers, in a tent installed in Camões Square.
